CARBON SEQUESTRATION SUPERSTARS

Seagrass acts as a powerful carbon removal hero. By efficiently capturing and storing carbon dioxide (CO2) from the environment, it contributes significantly to climate change mitigation. The carbon stored within seagrass sediments remains stable for millenia. Remarkably, despite covering only 0.1% of the ocean floor, seagrass meadows account for 11% of the ocean’s carbon stock. These amazing marine plants are helping us to fight climate change!

WATER QUALITY CHAMPIONS

Seagrass serves as natural filters, enhancing water quality in coastal habitats. These marine plants effectively remove harmful bacteria, pathogens, sediment particles, and even microplastics. By maintaining cleaner waters, seagrass contributes to the overall health of marine ecosystems and our wellbeing.
